What is Efavirenz Lamivudine and Tenofovir?

Efavirenz, lamivudine, and tenofovir are antiviral drugs for treating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV is a virus that can trigger acquired immunodeficiency disorder (AIDS). Lamivudine, efavirenz, and tenofovir do not provide an effective cure for HIV or AIDS.Symfi is intended for adults and children who weigh a minimum of 88 pounds (40 kg).Symfi L is intended for the adult and child with a weight of at least 77 lbs (35 kgs).Efavirenz, as well as lamivudine and tenofovir, could be used for other purposes not mentioned in this medication guide.

Side Effects of Efavirenz Lamivudine and Tenofovir

Contact emergency medical assistance.   • Liver issues: swelling around the midsection area, abdomen pains, unusual fatigue, and loss of appetite.black stools, dark urine and jaundice (yellowing of eyes or skin).

Symfi can affect your immune system and cause some adverse reactions (even months or even weeks after taking the medicine).Inform your physician immediately if you experience:

  • Symptoms of a new infection: fever, night sweats, swollen glands, and cold sores coughing, wheezing, diarrhea, weight loss
  • Difficulty swallowing or speaking issues with balance or eye movement and prickly or weak feeling trouble swallowing, balance or eye movement problems;
  • Swelling in your throat or neck (enlarged thyroid), menstrual cycles, impotence

Common adverse effects of efavirenz, lamivudine, and tenofovir can be:

  • Headache, dizziness;
  • Depression and thinking issues;
  • Nausea, diarrhea;
  • Sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Pain;
  • Weakness, tiredness;
  • Congestion, a stuffy nose, and sinus pain
  • It can be a rash
  • Change in the appearance or shape of fat (especially the body, legs, facial, and neck), the breasts, your waist, and your neck).

Warnings

Symfi LoTM has been approved by the FDA for people with a weight of at least 35 kg.
SymforM has been approved by the FDA for people with a weight of more than 40 kilograms.

Use as a complete treatment to treat HIV-1 infection.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You should take the medication as quickly as you are able, but do not take your missed dosage if you are nearing the time to take the next dose. Don't take two doses at a time.Refill your prescription prior to the expiration date of your medication.

What should be avoided?

Interaction with other drugs
