Fluorabon strengthens the tooth enamel and helps to prevent dental caries. Fluorabon can be used to treat tooth decay when drinking water has low fluoride levels (less than 0.06 parts per million). Fluorabon can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.
Side effects of Fluorabon
In case of symptoms related to allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling of face lips throat; seek immediate medical assistance immediately.
Fluorabon can cause serious side effects. If you experience:
- Very upset stomach
- Nausea, and vomiting.
- Any changes to the appearance of teeth, such as staining or pitting,

Fluorabon should not be used if your water contains more than 0.6 parts-per-million (ppm) of fluoride. You can contact your local water provider to determine the fluoride content in your water. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can provide you with information on the fluorocarbon levels in water throughout the United States.
If you:
- Have you ever had sores, ulcers, or sores on your lips?
- You are pregnant or nursing.
How to take Fluorabon?
Read all of the instructions or guides included with your medication and follow all directions, including those printed on its label. The fluorabon dosage is based on both your age and the amount of this medicine in your water. Fluorabon is not necessary if your water contains more than 0.6 ppm fluoride. Follow all instructions carefully when administering this medicine to your child. Measuring liquid medicine is important. Use the provided dosing device or a dose-measuring tool (not a spoon). You can take Fluorabon drops undiluted or mix them with food or liquid. This mixture can be consumed immediately. Do not store this document for future reference. You can dissolve or chew the chewable tablet in your mouth prior to swallowing it. This medicine is best taken at night after brushing your teeth. After taking fluorabon, do not rinse your mouth or eat anything. Fluorabon is best taken regularly for maximum benefit. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If it is close to time for your next dose, forgoing this one would not be prudent.Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.
What happens if I overdose?
Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention. The symptoms of an overdose may include a sudden burning sensation in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps.
What should be avoided?
Fluorabon should be taken at least 1 hour before you consume dairy products like milk or yogurt. Avoid calcium-fortified drinks for at least 1 hour after taking Fluorabon. Use only the laxatives or antacids that your doctor has prescribed. Fluorabon can be affected by the ingredients found in some laxatives and anti-acids.
Interaction with other drug
Fluorabon can be less effective if taken with certain medicines. Take this medicine 1 hour before taking any of the following medications:
- An antacid;
- A laxative;
- A mineral or multivitamin supplement containing calcium, magnesium, or aluminum
Fluorabon may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.Informing your physician of all medicines you are currently taking and any changes, both temporary and permanent, that have taken effect is vital in making informed choices and staying safe.
