What is Dyna-Hex 4?

Chlorhexidine fights bacteria. Dynahex 4 is used for the skin in order to remove any infections caused by skin injuries, such as those caused by skin surgery or injections. Dynahex 4 can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Dyna-Hex 4

Chlorhexidine may cause an uncommon but severe allergic reaction. This reaction can be life-threatening. Seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of the following: severe skin rashes, itching, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, or severe dizziness; swelling in your mouth, face, lips, and throat.

Dyna-Hex 4 can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Severe burning, itching, or redness
  • Blistering or peeling
  • Skin rash or swelling;
  • Any other serious irritation to the treated skin.

Your symptoms could range from less serious side effects or none at all.

Warnings

A rare but severe allergic reaction to chlorhexidine may cause life-threatening symptoms. Seek emergency medical attention if you experience: severe hives or skin rash; wheezing and difficulty breathing; cold sweats; severe dizziness; swelling in your mouth, face, lips, or throat.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Dyna-Hex 4, then it is best not to use the product. If you are allergic to dyes, food, animals, or medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether you can use Dyna-Hex 4. Unknown is whether Dyna-Hex 4 can harm an unborn baby.Inform your doctor that you're pregnant. The effects of chlorhexidine on nursing babies are not yet known. Inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding. Use Dyna-Hex 4, a medicine for children under 2 months, with extreme caution. The medicine can cause chemical or severe irritation in a child under 2 months.

How to take Dyna-Hex 4?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it. Take it only as directed. Dyna-Hex 4 should only be used on the skin. Before applying Dyna-Hex 4, rinse the skin. This medication should only be applied topically on superficial wounds that do not open and close immediately; deep wounds, scratches or skin-open wounds require further medical intervention before starting therapy with this medicine. Use only what is necessary for treating the area you need help on. Rinse gently but thoroughly with water afterwards; use sparingly on large skin areas. Although produced under strict sterility conditions, this medicine contains components which have not been sterilized prior to production.

The product can be contaminated by bacteria, spreading infection. Avoid contaminating medicine with bacteria by:

  • Only use the applicator, swab, or pad that came with your medication.
  • Use only a cotton ball or swab if no applicator has been provided.
  • Avoid touching either the bottle top or skin directly with your fingertips.
  • Don't dilute your medicine with liquid or water.
  • Only use the dressing (or pad, swab, or other applicator) once. After one application, throw away the applicator.

If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while taking Dyna-Hex 4, call your doctor. Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature.Keep at room temperature, avoiding moisture and heat sources.When not in use, keep the bottle closed tightly. Use the medicine only once if it is in an individual foil container or wrapper. Even if the medicine is still inside, throw it away once you have used it. Save the medicine for later.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as possible, take the dose you missed. If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of Dyna-Hex 4 are not dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medicine, seek emergency medical care or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

Do not get Dyna-Hex in your ears, eyes, nose, mouth, or rectum. Rinse with water if this happens. Do not use other medications on areas that you have treated with Dyna-Hex 4, unless you are told to by your doctor. Do not get this medication on clothing or any other fabric. Use bleach only to clean fabrics that have been exposed to chlorhexidine. Otherwise, it may leave a permanent mark.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs that you inject or take orally will not have any effect on the topically-applied chlorhexidine. Many drugs interact. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines that you take, including prescription medicines and over-the-counter medications.
