What is Adcirca?

Adcirca relaxes the muscles of the blood vessels and boosts the flow of blood to certain parts of the body.

Adcirca helps treat hypertension in the pulmonary artery and improve endurance in both women.

Another type of tadalafil brand is Cialis, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) as well as symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate) in males. Don't use Adcirca when you are also taking Cialis unless your physician advises you to.

Warnings

The combination of Adcirca with other medicines could cause an immediate and severe drop in blood pressure.

Do not consume Adcirca in conjunction with Riociguat or a nitrate drug like Nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, or other recreational drugs like "poppers."

Seek medical attention immediately. If you experience nausea, chest pain, and dizziness during sexual activity,

Stop taking Adcirca and seek medical attention if you experience a sudden loss of vision.

Before you Take this Drug

Do not use Adcirca if you have an allergy to tadalafil or

  • If you are taking other medications to treat hypertension in the pulmonary artery, like riociguat (Adempas).

Do not consume Adcirca when you are taking a nitrate medicine to treat problems with your heart or chest. This includes nitroglycerin (nitric oxide), isosorbide dinitrate, and mononitrate isosorbide. Nitrates also occur in recreational drugs like amyl nitrate, butyl nitrate, and nitrite ("poppers"). When you take tadalafil along with a nitrate drug, it can result in a sudden and severe decrease in blood pressure.

The tadalafil is in your bloodstream for two or more days following every dose (longer in the case of kidney or liver problems). Do not take nitrates during this period.

To ensure that this medication is appropriate for you, inform your doctor if you have any of the following:

  • Heart issues (chest pain, cardiac rhythm problems, heart failure);

  • A stroke or stroke.

  • Excessive (or lower) blood pressure;

  • Liver disease;

  • Kidney disease (or if you're taking dialysis);

  • Retinitis pigmentosa (an acquired condition of the eyes);

  • Blindness in one or both eyes

  • Hearing loss;

  • Blood circulation issues;

  • A blood cell disorder such as sickle-cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia;

  • Pulmonary veno-occlusive disease (PVOD);

  • A physical defect in the penis (such as Peyronie's Disease) or an erection that lasts longer than 4 hours

  • A stomach ulcer.

  • Health problems that make sexual activities unsafe

A few people taking tadalafil experience a sudden loss of vision. A majority of them had eye issues or were suffering from diabetes or other medical conditions that could influence blood vessels within the eye. It's not known whether tadalafil causes vision loss.

Do not begin and/or stop using Adcirca during your pregnancy without a doctor's approval. Having pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) during pregnancy can result in heart failure, stroke, heart failure, or other health issues for both the mother and baby. Inform your doctor right away when you discover that you are pregnant.

It might not be appropriate to breastfeed while taking Adcirca. Discuss any risks with your doctor.

Adcirca is not a product that has been approved for use by anyone less than 18 years old.

How to Take Adcirca?

Adcirca is usually only taken once a day. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Don't take this medication in smaller or larger quantities or for a longer time than prescribed.

Adcirca is a medicine that can be consumed either with or without food. It may be necessary to take two tablets of 20 mg to get the full dosage. The tablets should be taken one at a time. Don't split the dose.

No Cialis for erectile problems If you're taking Adcirca to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension,

Do not alter your Adcirca dosage or stop taking the medicine without consulting your physician.

Place it in a cool, dry place far from heat and moisture.

Usual Adult Dose for Pulmonary Hypertension:

40 mg taken orally every day, either with or without meals.

Comment: The 40 mg dose at the same time of day is not recommended.

What Happens If I Miss the Dose?

If you have missed the dose of Adcirca, Take the medication immediately; however, you should avoid your missed dose if it's close to the time for the next dose. Don't take two doses at a time.

What Happens If I Overdose?

Get medical attention in an emergency or contact the Poison Help line toll-free at 1-800-222-1222.

Avoid this 

Beware of drinking alcohol. This can increase the chances of fainting or feeling dizzy.

Grapefruit can interact with tadalafil and lead to undesirable adverse effects. Beware of using grapefruit-related products.

Side Effects of Adcirca

See a doctor immediately. If you notice symptoms of an allergy reaction, Adcirca: hives, breathing difficulties, or swelling of your lips, face, or tongue.

Stop taking this medication and consult your physician immediately if you suffer from:

  • Symptoms of a heart attack include chest pain or pressure, pain extending into your shoulder or jaw, nausea, sweating, and vomiting.

  • Vision changes or sudden vision loss;

  • Hearing loss, ringing in the ears, the sudden loss of your

    hearing,

  • An erection may be painful or last for more than 4 hours (prolonged erections may damage the penis).

Get medical assistance immediately. If you experience nausea, chest pain, or a feeling of dizziness when you are having sexual activity, You could be suffering from a serious adverse reaction.

Common Adcirca side effects can include:

  • Headache;

  • Flushing (warmth, redness, warmth, or tingly sensation);

  • Nausea, upset stomach;

  • Nasal stuffiness or runny nose; or

  • Muscle pain, back pain, or pain in your legs, arms, or back

Interaction with Other Drugs

Do not use Adcirca together with other similar medications like avanafil (Stendra), sildenafil (Viagra), or vardenafil (Levitra). Discuss with your doctor the other medications you are taking to treat erectile dysfunction.

Discuss with your doctor all other medications, particularly:

  • Drugs for treating erectile dysfunction or pulmonary arterial hypertension

  • Medications for treating hypertension or prostate disorders;

  • An antibiotic like clarithromycin, erythromycin, rifampin, or telithromycin

  • Antifungal medicines like ketoconazole or itraconazole;

  • Medication for treating the symptoms of HIV/AIDS treatments, including the drug ritonavir and other medications;

  • Seizure medication like carbamazepine and phenytoin, a seizure medicine.
