
What is the Somapacitan?
Somapacitan can be used to treat adults or children who are at least 2 1/2 years old and do not produce sufficient growth hormone. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Somapacitan.
Side effects of Somapacitan
If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling in your face, lips, or throat.
Somapacitan may cause serious side effects. If you experience:
- Changes in behavior, moles, birthmarks, or skin color
- Headaches, vision problems, nausea, or vomiting;
- Fluid accumulation—shortness of breath (even when lying down), swelling, and rapid weight gain (especially around the midsection).
- Reduced adrenal gland hormonal symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, lightheadedness, fatigue, or muscle or joint pain. Skin discoloration and a craving for salty foods are also possible.
- Pancreatitis: severe pain spreading from your upper stomach to your back. Your symptoms could also include nausea and vomiting.
Somapacitan can cause the following side effects:
- Back and joint pain
- Vomiting, heartburn;
- Dizziness;
- Weight gain
- Sleep problems
- Blood tests that are abnormal
- Pain in the hands and feet
- Having difficulty swallowing can be painful.
- Flu symptoms include fever, chills, and body aches.
- Severe headache; blurred vision; or pounding in the neck and ears
- Pain, bruising, or swelling where the medicine has been injected;
- Pale skin, fatigue, feeling lightheaded or short-breathy, cold hands and/or feet

Warnings
Use exactly as directed on the package and label. Follow the directions provided by your label or package.
Before you take this drug
If you have an allergy to somapacitan, or:
- Cancer;
- A critical illness that can be caused by certain types of surgery on the heart, stomach, or lungs, or even trauma.
- Some types of eye diseases caused by diabetes (diabetic retinal disease)
- You are a child who has closed growth plates in the bones.
- You are a child who has Prader-Willi syndrome and is severely obese, or you have breathing problems such as sleep apnea.
Tell your doctor about any of the following:
- Cancer;
- Diabetes;
- Adrenal gland disorders
- Thyroid gland disorders
- Surgery or abdominal trauma or significant respiratory difficulties may necessitate heart or stomach surgery or require emergency room medical treatment.
- Are you a child who has a worsening curvature in the spine? ( Scoliosis);
- If you are on replacement therapy with steroids,
- Liver problems are a serious condition.
Inform your physician immediately if you are pregnant or nursing.
How to take Somapacitan?
Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all directions. Follow the directions on the label. Your healthcare provider can show you how to inject somapacitan. Do not repeat the injection in the same area. Somapacitan injections are given once a week. If you need assistance injecting an injection, consult with either your pharmacist or physician. Only prepare an injection when you're ready to administer it. If the medicine is cloudy or has changed color, call your pharmacist.
Never reuse a syringe or needle. Put them in a "sharps container" that is puncture-proof, and dispose of the sharps according to local or state laws. Keep away from children and pets. Even if the needle has been changed, never share an injectable pen, cartridge, or syringe. These devices can spread infections. You will need to have your blood sugar checked regularly, and you may also need other medical tests. Please follow the instructions that come with your injectable medication. What happens if I miss the dose?
If you miss a dose by more than three days (72 hours), you should skip it. On the day of regular dosing, you can start again with the next dose. Never use two doses in one go.
What happens if I overdose?
Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Overdose symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, increased thirst, or urination.
What should be avoided?
If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions.
Interaction with other drug
Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications, including:
- Birth control pills and other hormones
