What is Ed-Chlor Ped Jr.?

Ed-Chlor Ped Jr. is an antihistamine that helps reduce the effects of the natural chemical histamine that is present in our body. Histamine may cause symptoms such as nose sneezing, itching, eye watering, and a swollen nose.Ed-Chlor Ed-Chlor Jr. is a treatment for nasal congestion, sneezing, itching, and eyes that are watery due to allergies, commonly-assisted colds, as well as influenza.Ed-Chlorlor Ped Jr. can be used for other purposes not mentioned in this medication guide.

Side effects of Ed-Chlor Ped Jr.

Prior to use this drug

It is recommended not to use Ed-ChlorPed Jr. if you have an allergy to its odor or suffer from:

  • Narrow-angle glaucoma;
  • A blockage in your stomach or in your intestines
  • Prostate cancer;
  • If you're not able to urinate,
  • If you're experiencing the symptoms of asthma,

Consult a physician or pharmacist about whether it is safe to take Ed-Chlor Ped Jr. if you suffer from:

  • An obstruction within your digestive tract (stomach or intestines) or a colostomy or ileostomy
  • Kidney disease or liver failure;
  • Asthma, COPD, cough that is mucus, or a cough that is caused by smoke, emphysema, chronic asthma, or chronic bronchitis;
  • High blood pressure, heart disease, coronary artery disease, or a recently experienced coronary artery disease
  • Epilepsy or any seizures;
    Problems with urination;
  • Pheochromocytoma (an adrenal gland's tumor) or
  • Thyroid that is overactive.

The FDA classification for pregnant women in category B, Ed-Chlor, is not thought to harm the unborn baby. Do not take this medication without your physician's guidance if you are expecting.Chlorpheniramine could be present in breast milk and harm the baby who is nursing. Antihistamines can cause a decrease in breast milk production. Do not take this medication without a physician's advice if breastfeeding infants.Artificially sweetened cold medicines may contain phenylalanine. If you suffer from the condition known as phenylketonuria (PKU), look over the label on your medication to determine whether the product contains phenylalanine.

How to take Ed-Chlor's Ped Jr.?

Follow the directions on the label or as recommended by your physician. Don't use it in greater quantities, in smaller amounts, or for a longer period than is recommended. Ed-Chlor Ped Jr. is typically used for a limited period of time until symptoms are gone.Do not take more than seven days consecutively. Discuss with your doctor when your symptoms don't improve after seven days of treatment or if you experience an illness that causes a fever that is accompanied by a headache or a skin eruption.Do not chew, crush, or break an extended-release tablet. Take it in whole. In the event of breaking the pill, it could cause too much drug to release simultaneously.Measure the liquid medicine using an instrument that measures doses, such as a medicine cup, and not using an ordinary tablespoon. If you do not own an instrument for measuring doses, ask your pharmacist to get one.Always consult with a physician before you give cold or cough medicine to children. Death can occur due to the misuse of cold and cough medicines by very young children.

If you require surgical intervention or other medical examinations, inform the doctor or surgeon prior to the time of your appointment if you have taken this medicine in the last couple of days.Place it in a cool, dry place far from heat and moisture. Make sure that you do not let the liquid form of this medicine become frozen.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Since this medication is administered when you need it, you might not be following a regular dosing regimen. If you're taking the medication frequently, you must make sure to take your missed dose whenever you remember. Don't miss your missed dosage if you are nearing the time for the next scheduled doseDo not take extra medicine in an attempt to make up for missed dosage.

What should be avoided?

Ed-Chlor Ped Jr. can cause blurred vision or affect your ability to think or react. Be aware if you drive or engage in any activity that requires that you be conscious and in a position to clearly see.Drinking alcohol can trigger certain adverse effects of chlorpheniramine.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any other cough, cold, allergy, or sleep medication. Antihistamines are found in a variety of combination medications. Combining certain medications could cause you to take too much of a particular medication. Examine the label to find out the presence of an antihistamine.Beware of becoming dehydrated or overheated during workouts and in hot temperatures. Ed-Chlor Ped Jr. will reduce the sweating and make you more susceptible to suffering from heat stroke.

Interaction with other drugs

The combination of Ed-Chlor Ped Jr. and other medications that cause you to feel sleepy or cause breathing problems can increase the severity of these effects.
