What is Amzeeq?

Minocycline is a tetracycline antibiotic.Amzeeq (for the face) helps treat acne that is severe in children and adults who are at least 9 years old.Amzeeq can also be employed to treat Rosacea in adults.Amzeeq is not recommended to treat an acne-related skin condition.Amzeeq is also employed for other purposes that are not covered in this medication guide.

Side effects of Amzeeq

Seek medical attention immediately when you are experiencing symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction (hives, breathing difficulties, or swelling of your throat or face) or a severe reaction to your skin (fever, sore throat, eye burning, ache, as well as red or purple itching, blisters, and peeling).Get medical attention in the event of a serious drug reaction that affects various parts of your body. Symptoms may include the following: a skin rash or fever; swollen glands; muscle pains; extreme weakness; unusual bruising; or an increase in the colour of your eyes or skin.There is no risk of serious side effects when applying Amzeeq to the skin. However, serious side effects may occur if the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream.

Amzeeq can cause serious adverse effects. Should you experience:

  • Extreme stomach pains; diarrhoea that is bloody or watery (even when it happens several months after the most recent dose);
  • Severe dizziness;
  • Confusion, headaches, eye problems, headaches behind your eyes;
  • Swelling glands, itching, joint discomfort, or feeling unwell.
  • Discoloration of your skin, lips, eyes, nails, gums, teeth, or skin.
  • Digestive problems, such as a loss of appetite and stomach discomfort (upper right side) and fatigue and burning, strong urine stool that is coloured with clay, jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin),
  • Lupus-like symptoms: joint pain or muscle pain; flu symptoms chest pain, an itch, or patchy skin colour that gets worse in the sun.

Minocycline can impact growth in children, particularly if it is used for long periods of time.

Before you take this drug

It is not recommended to use Amzeeq if you have an allergy to minocycline or similar antibiotics like demeclocycline, doxycycline, or tetracycline.

How to take Amzeeq?

Follow all instructions on the prescription label and review all medication guides and instructions sheets. Make sure you use the medicine exactly as prescribed.Shake the foam canister thoroughly before every use.Be sure to read and adhere to any instructions that are included with your medicine. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor if you don't understand the instructions.Amzeeq is generally applied once every day, preferably one hour prior to bedtime. Apply a small amount of foam to the areas of the skin that are affected.Take your medicine regularly and do so diligently.Do not shower, bathe, or take a swim for a minimum of 1 hour following the application of Amzeeq.Keep the medicine at room temperature and free of heat and moisture. Keep this medicine out of the heat and moisture. in the refrigerator.Amzeeq foam can be refrigerated at the pharmacy prior to receiving it. It is possible to store the canister in the refrigerator at home until you are able to begin using the medication. If you are using a canister for the very first time, let it be at room temperature prior to applying the medication. When you begin using a canister, you should continue keeping it in a cool, dry place for a period of up to 90 days, and then toss it out regardless of whether there is remaining medicine inside.Amzeeq foam is inflammable. Do not apply it near extreme temperatures or near an open flame. Avoid smoking until the drug has completely been absorbed by your skin.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Apply the medication as fast as you are able, but do not take the missed dose if you think it is close to time for the next dose. Don't apply two doses at once.

What happens if I overdose?

An Amzeeq overdose is not likely to pose a risk. Should anyone accidentally ingestion medication, seek medical assistance immediately or call the poison help line immediately at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

Avoid driving or engaging in hazardous activities until you understand the effects of Amzeeq on you. The way you react could be impaired.The use of antibiotics can trigger diarrhoea, which could be an indicator of an upcoming illness. If you experience diarrhoea that is fluid or bloody, contact your doctor prior to taking the anti-diarrhoea medication.Amzeeq may cause skin to burn more quickly. Avoid tanning beds and sunlight. Be sure to wear protective attire and sunblock (SPF 30 or more) while you're outdoors.Beware of getting this medication in your mouth, eyes, or vagina.

Interaction with other drugs

Discuss with your doctor all other medicines you take, including:

  • Isotretinoin;
  • One of them is warfarin, coumadin, jantoven,
  • Augmentin prevpac and other penicillin antibiotics such as amoxicillin, ampicillin, nafcillin oxacillin are popular choices.
